As highlighted in the latest Stack Overflow Developer Survey, Rust has emerged as the most admired programming language. Its adoption is rapidly growing in the tech industry. Yet, many developers still find working with Rust daily out of reach. 👾 At Muybridge, they’ve integrated Rust throughout their tech stack, utilizing it for everything from high-performance CUDA programming to GUI development, simulations, and embedded systems. In this presentation, we’ll explore how Rust’s unique features make it an ideal choice for building a high-performance video processing pipeline, allowing us to "reinvent" the camera. Get to know the speakers 👨 Stefan Lontschar is a Senior Software Engineer with versatile experience in VR development, web technologies, UX design, cryptographic algorithms, and the media industry since moving to Norway almost three years ago. Now at Muybridge, he has quickly adapted to the dynamic startup environment, which fosters innovation and agility while continuously learning to tackle complex challenges. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, baking, nature and playing electric guitar, with a keen interest in Asian cultures that inspires his culinary adventures. 👨 Stian Askeland is a Senior Software Engineer with a diverse background, from developing safety-critical control software for the subsea industry to creating robotics control systems for high-end camera robots. While C++ was his initial programming language, he embraced Rust during Muybridge's formative stages. Stian joined Muybridge in early 2021 and has enjoyed witnessing its growth from 4 to 29 team members. In his spare time, Stian loves exploring the beautiful mountains of Bergen on family hikes with his wife and two kids.
